# LinkedIn Post Formatter - full description Canonical URL: https://linkedin-formatter.ibean.co/ Publisher: IBEAN (https://ibean.co) Creator: Krishnavadan Raval, Founder, IBEAN License: MIT Price: free, no account, no sign-up Last updated: 2026-10-01 ## Summary LinkedIn Post Formatter is a free web app that converts plain text, Markdown, and AI-generated drafts (from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and similar) into posts that display correctly on LinkedIn. LinkedIn does not render Markdown and collapses blank lines in many cases, so pasted drafts often show literal asterisks and lose their paragraph spacing. This tool fixes both problems and shows a live preview of the result before the user posts. ## The problems it solves 1. Markdown shows up literally. Text like **bold** or ## Heading appears with the symbols visible on LinkedIn. The tool converts Markdown to Unicode characters that LinkedIn does display. 2. Line breaks collapse. LinkedIn can remove blank lines and flatten paragraphs. The tool inserts an invisible Braille Pattern Blank character (U+2800) on empty lines when copying, so paragraph breaks are preserved. 3. No native formatting. LinkedIn's composer has no bold or italic buttons. The tool provides Unicode "bold", "italic", "bold italic", "monospace", "strikethrough", "underline" and "serif bold" styles that work in any LinkedIn post. 4. Messy lists and hashtags. Bullets, numbering and hashtags are normalized and hashtags can be moved to the bottom or removed. ## Features - Markdown to LinkedIn conversion (bold, italic, headings, lists, links) with automatic detection and a one-click banner. - Unicode text styles: bold, italic, bold italic, monospace, strikethrough, underline, serif bold, Title Case; revert-to-plain-text. - Floating selection toolbar and keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl/Cmd+B (bold), Ctrl/Cmd+I (italic), Ctrl/Cmd+K (shortcuts help), Ctrl/Cmd+Enter (Format and Polish), undo and redo. - Five workflow presets: Clean Professional, Thought Leadership, Founder Story, Technical Architecture, Product / Launch Announcement. - Spacing modes: compact, standard, spacious; automatic breaking of very long paragraphs; "Add Line Breaks" for tight text. - Bullet styles (for example bullet, square, arrow, check mark, pointing hand) and numbered-list normalization. - Hashtag manager: extract, normalize, categorize suggestions, place at bottom, preserve, or remove. - Emoji picker, section separators, and a library of hook and call-to-action templates. - Live LinkedIn feed preview with desktop and mobile views, the "...see more" fold simulation, and an optional attached-image preview. - Hook score (0-100) for the first lines of a post, with tips. - Statistics: characters against LinkedIn's 3,000-character limit, words, paragraphs, lines, hashtags, links, read time, readability grade, and a "compactness" score showing how much text relies on Unicode styling. - Before/After diff view, and export as text or Markdown file. - Customizable author preview (name, headline, follower count) so the preview looks like the user's own post. This is in-memory only. - An interactive guided tour (13 short steps that highlight each part of the screen), started from the "Take the tour" button in the top bar or footer. - Light and dark themes. Works on mobile. - Preserves Hindi, Gujarati and other Indian and international scripts, and emojis. ## How to use 1. Open https://linkedin-formatter.ibean.co/ 2. A downloadable PDF of the guide is at https://linkedin-formatter.ibean.co/how-to-use/LinkedIn-Post-Formatter-Training-Guide.pdf . The tool's top bar and footer both have a "How to Use" link to it. ## Privacy and security - 100% client-side. There is no backend, no database, no account, and no analytics or tracking. - The user's text is never uploaded, logged or stored. No AI model is called. - Fonts are self-hosted, and the page makes no third-party requests when loading. - The only data saved is the light/dark theme choice, in the browser's localStorage. - A strict Content-Security-Policy restricts the page to its own origin. ## Limitations (important to state accurately) - Unicode "bold" and "italic" are special characters, not real formatting. Screen readers may read them as symbols or letter names, and LinkedIn search will not match them as normal words. Use them sparingly, mainly for short hooks and key phrases. - Only Latin letters and digits are styled. Other scripts are left unchanged. - LinkedIn can change how it renders text at any time; always check the preview and the actual post. - The tool formats and restructures text. It does not write or rewrite content, and it does not post to LinkedIn. - Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn. "LinkedIn" is a trademark of LinkedIn Corporation. ## FAQ Q: Is it free? A: Yes. No sign-up, no limits, no payment. Q: Does it send my post anywhere? A: No. Everything runs in your browser. Q: Does it use AI? A: No. It uses deterministic formatting rules, so the same input always gives the same output, and your words are never changed or invented. Q: Why do my line breaks disappear on LinkedIn? A: LinkedIn can collapse blank lines. "Copy for LinkedIn" adds invisible spacer characters (U+2800) so paragraph breaks survive. Q: Will bold text work everywhere on LinkedIn? A: It works in posts, comments and profile text on current LinkedIn apps because it uses standard Unicode characters, but it can look different on some fonts and is not accessible to screen readers. Q: Does it work for Hindi or Gujarati posts? A: Yes. Non-Latin scripts and emojis are preserved untouched. Q: Where can I learn every feature? A: Open https://linkedin-formatter.ibean.co/how-to-use/ for the step-by-step guide and video. Q: Can I use or modify the code? A: It is released under the MIT License. ## Contact and attribution Built by IBEAN as a free contribution to the creator, professional and business community. More about IBEAN: https://ibean.co
